Meera says her new film Psycho can help people in Pakistan talk more openly about mental health.
Actress Meera has spoken about her upcoming film Psycho, which she says can help people in Pakistan talk more openly about mental health. In a conversation with Mahwash Ajaz, a Dubai-based journalist and editor, Meera described the film as the start of a new way of thinking about a subject that often gets ignored.
Meera stars in Psycho and is also one of its executive producers. The film is written and directed by Shaan Shahid and is set to release in cinemas on Eid-ul-Adha 2026. Geo News shared the official trailer on May 18, 2026, and it picked up attention online soon after.
Meera said people put a lot of effort into treating physical illness but pay far less attention to mental health, and that this gap has existed for a long time. She said many people feel a sense of shame when mental health comes up, and that shame often stops them from talking about it at all.
She believes Psycho can help change that. According to Meera, the film is built around mental health awareness, and she hopes it will encourage people to treat the subject as seriously as they treat physical health.

The actress believes Psycho will start a real conversation, both inside the Pakistani film industry and among the public. She said this discussion will be about the film and even about its name, and she feels it can bring genuine change.
She added that the team behind the film hopes audiences will learn something new from it, while the industry itself also teaches something new through it.
Meera compared watching a film to reading a good book. She said every film is like a book, and a good film can teach its audience the way a good book at a university would. She called Psycho a beautiful film made under Shaan Shahid’s direction and said the team is looking forward to its release.
Psycho | Pakistani Film | Release Date & Trailer
Psycho is a psychological thriller set inside Pakistan’s wealthy and powerful legal and social circles. According to the film’s official synopsis, the story follows Shaan, a criminal lawyer who has never lost a case, whose success at work slowly begins to clash with his own values. He also grows close to powerful people who hide their secrets behind their status and reputation.
What we know so far about Meera’s character is that she is a calm and caring woman who lives a life of privilege, while hiding a deeper, troubled side that no one around her can see. As crime and betrayal come together, the story puts trust and loyalty to the test.
The makers say Psycho is not a film about madness, but a story about silence and about how a person can lose control. Its tagline is “The Real Enemy Lives in the Mind,” and the trailer description says every decision starts as a thought and every obsession starts as a whisper.
The cast also includes Sonya Hussyn, Javed Sheikh, Shabbir Jan, Nayyer Ejaz, Talat Shah, Adnan Butt, and Ali Anjum. Red Lipstick Production and SB Films present the film, with M.
