How Hania Aamir Became Pakistan’s Global Star

Meet Hania Aamir, the talented actress from Pakistan with fans across the globe. Not only has she won admirers for her beauty, but also for the mind behind that glowing face. After conquering the international audience with Sardaar Ji 3 last year, the actress has now added another milestone to her list by being named to the 2026 Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 list in Entertainment & Sports.

The achievement is more than a personal triumph — it is a moment of pride for Pakistan’s entertainment industry and a testament to how far local talent can go in an increasingly borderless digital world. It also sends an important message to all the girls out there that nothing is impossible if you have the will to work hard and give 100 percent, because that’s exactly what Hania Aamir did to achieve what only a few could have dreamed of.

Her journey began on social media, where she was mocked, ridiculed, and even criticized for making Dubsmash videos, which were deemed not hardworking enough. However, she quickly pivoted, using social media to her advantage and carving out a distinct identity.

At the time of being named to Forbes Under 30, she had over 20 million followers on Instagram, making her the most followed Pakistani actress, with second-placed Ayeza Khan trailing by more than 5 million. Hania’s story is particularly compelling because her path to international stardom was anything but conventional.

From Humble Beginning to Janaan

Born and raised in Rawalpindi, Hania came from humble beginnings. Long before she became one of Pakistan’s most recognizable faces, she was a young girl with big dreams and limited resources.

Raised by a single mother, Hania has spoken candidly about the financial challenges she faced as a child. She understood early on that success would have to be earned through grit, resilience, and relentless hard work.

Her entry into showbiz was nothing short of filmy. She caught the attention of the producers of Janaan through her social media videos, and they auditioned her for a supporting role in the film, which also launched Usman Mukhtar’s career and introduced Armeena Rana Khan and Bilal Ashraf as the main leads.

Despite her lack of acting experience, Hania proved the producers—Imran Khan’s then-wife Reham Khan, Imran Raza Kazmi, and Hareem Farooq—right by shining as a fresh-faced talent with natural screen presence and infectious charisma.

Janaan gave Hania the boost any youngster would love at the beginning of their careers. From then on, there was no looking back because she understood the audience expected more from her, and she readied herself for the big things to follow. It is worth noting that during the film’s shoot, Hania was studying at FAST-NUCES, but she chose to discontinue her studies to support her family, a noble decision in modern times.

From Breakthrough Star to Bankable Actor

If making a strong debut was difficult, sustaining momentum was even more so. Hania had to prove that she was more than a one-film wonder, and for that, she took the route no film actor dares—switch to TV. After worthy performances in dramas like Titli and Phir Wohi Mohabbat, she understood the game and upped the ante by juggling between films and TV shows.

First came the sequel to the popular Na Maloom Afraad—Na Maloom Afraad 2—in which she played a girl who works at an international bank, followed by the Air Force flick Parwaaz Hai Junoon, in which she was paired with Ahad Raza Mir and Hamza Ali Abbasi. Despite impressing the audience with her dancing and acting, she decided to take a break from the big screen to focus on TV.

Her decision paid dividends as dramas like Visaal, Anaa, Ishqiya, and Dil Ruba followed, in which she played characters close to her real-life personality. However, her image shifted with Mere Humsafar, Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha, and, most recently, Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, which showcased her range and emotional depth and helped her evolve from a social media sensation into one of Pakistan’s most bankable actors.

Her recent play, Meri Zindagi Hai Tu, became so popular that it was simultaneously the most-watched drama across the Indian subcontinent. Not only did it spark a meme war among Hania’s fans in Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, but video reels were also made from scenes of the drama in which she played a doctor who falls in love with her stalker.

Crossing Borders and Breaking Barriers

Along the way, she earned critical acclaim, industry awards, and a fanbase that continued to grow across borders. Leveraging her popularity as a TV actress, Hania once again entered the social media arena, this time becoming a sensation, one who could do no wrong. Brands approached her to boost their sales, ad filmmakers wanted her in their commercials to make a stronger impression, and events became huge when she endorsed them with her presence.

At one such event—a Diljit Dosanjh concert in London—the Indian singer-actor spotted Hania and invited her onstage for a brief moment. That interaction marked the beginning of a working relationship that would later be known as Sardaar Ji 3. If Janaan gave Hania the boost she needed, Sardaar Ji 3 gave her the confidence to shine at the international level and even outshine the film’s leading lady, Neeru Bajwa, who felt out of place in real life.

Just before the release of Hania Aamir’s Indian Punjabi film debut, a war broke out between India and Pakistan, and at one point, it seemed Hania Aamir’s character might be edited out of the final film to avoid offending the Indian audience. However, Diljit Dosanjh refused to give in to the pressure and dropped India from the film’s worldwide release, standing by his co-star. Her performance in the movie was nothing short of phenomenal, as she not only played a ghostbuster but also a heart-stealer who robs the protagonist and the audience of their senses with her charm.

Mastering the Digital Age of Celebrity

What truly distinguishes Hania, however, is her grasp of modern celebrity. When she made her debut, many TV actresses were doing well on social media; however, Hania didn’t want to be content with just being another actress. She began building her stardom by targeting both her fans in Pakistan and abroad, mastering the art of digital relatability.

With about 20 million Instagram followers, she is now Pakistan’s most-followed female celebrity — a statistic that underscores her enormous cultural reach. But numbers alone don’t explain her popularity. Her playful candor, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and unfiltered personality have made her feel accessible to millions, enabling fans to connect with her beyond the screen.

This digital-first approach transformed her from a national television icon into a global South Asian figure. She was one of the first stars from Pakistan to visit Bangladesh after the fall of Sheik Hasina Wajid’s regime, and she even collaborated with a shampoo brand, serving as its ambassador in both West Pakistan (now Pakistan) and East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).

Her appeal has extended well beyond Pakistan and Bangladesh, resonating with audiences in India, the Middle East, the UK, and among diaspora communities worldwide. Streaming platforms have further amplified her reach, and her upcoming appearance in Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo—widely noted as Netflix’s first Pakistani original series—positions her for an even bigger international breakthrough.

An Inspiration for a New Generation

The Forbes recognition, therefore, is not simply about fame. It validates Hania’s evolution into a modern global entertainer—one who represents a new generation of Pakistani artists leveraging talent, authenticity, and digital influence to redefine what international success looks like.

Her inclusion on the Forbes Asia Under 30 list sends a powerful message: world-class stars can emerge from anywhere, even from humble beginnings in Rawalpindi. Lady Luck might have helped her rise from nowhere, but it only comes to the aid of those who help themselves rather than wait for opportunities.
