University students in the United Arab Emirates can receive one year of free access to Google AI Plus, giving them access to Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence tools and other AI-powered features for education, research and creative work.
The student offer was announced as part of a wider initiative involving the UAE Artificial Intelligence Office and Google. The programme is aimed at increasing students’ access to advanced artificial intelligence tools and helping them use AI in their academic work.
Under the offer, eligible university students aged 18 and above can receive Google AI Plus at no cost for 12 months. Students are required to verify their university status by providing a university identification card and other requested information. Google said eligible students must register by December 31, 2026, to claim the offer.
The Google AI Plus plan provides access to the Gemini app and several AI-powered features. According to Google, the current version of Gemini available through the offer uses the company’s 3.1 Pro model, which is designed to handle complex questions and tasks. Students can also access Deep Research and personalised AI features through Gemini.
The subscription also includes Gemini Notebook, formerly known as NotebookLM. The tool can be used to work with academic materials, including notes and textbooks. Google said students can use it to generate summaries and interactive audio content, while books of up to 200 pages can be summarised through the tool.
Another feature included in the student offer is access to Google’s AI-powered image and video generation capabilities. Google said its Omni model can generate video clips of up to 10 seconds, while its Nano Banana model can generate images in different formats and sizes.
Students will also receive 400 GB of storage as part of the Google AI Plus offer. The additional storage can be used for academic materials, files and other content associated with their Google account.
Google has also introduced additional student discounts alongside the free Google AI Plus subscription. According to the company, eligible students can receive discounts of up to 75% on Google AI Pro. There is also a discounted bundle combining Google AI Pro and YouTube Premium, with a discount of up to 70%.
The UAE offer is part of Google’s broader 2026 student initiative. Google announced that eligible university students outside the United States can receive one year of Google AI Plus at no cost in markets where the plan is available. The company said the offer is available in more than 140 markets, subject to specific exclusions and eligibility requirements.
Google has simultaneously introduced new study-focused capabilities for students. These include tools designed to help students create study plans, organise course material, generate quizzes and understand complex subjects through interactive learning features.
The initiative comes as artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into education, with students using AI tools for research, studying, writing assistance and information organisation. The UAE has also been developing initiatives aimed at expanding AI skills and adoption, making access to AI technologies an increasingly important part of its education and digital-development agenda.
For eligible university students in the UAE, the programme provides access to Google’s paid AI Plus features for a full year without the standard subscription cost during the offer period. Students who wish to continue using the subscription after the free period should review Google’s applicable terms, including any charges that may apply after the offer ends.
