Sharjah Ruler Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi officially inaugurated the Khorfakkan Resort on Thursday, May 7, in the presence of Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. The resort, developed by Asas Real Estate, the property arm of Sharjah Islamic Bank, cost AED700 million (approximately $190.6 million) to build and sits directly on Khorfakkan Beach on the emirate’s east coast.
Upon arrival, Sheikh Sultan unveiled the commemorative plaque marking the official opening before touring the resort’s facilities. The development spans approximately 330,000 square feet of land, with a total built-up area of 1.4 million square feet. It comprises a ground floor, two parking levels, and nine residential floors.
Khorfakkan Resort Features Private Beach and Panoramic Views
The resort offers 573 residential units ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom apartments, alongside 16 retail outlets and a full suite of leisure amenities. These include a private beach, outdoor swimming pools, a gym, sports areas, and integrated hotel services. Elevated green spaces cover 100,000 square feet across the development.
The property offers four panoramic views combining the sea, beach, city, and mountains, and sits close to the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre and Khorfakkan Waterfall. Freehold ownership is available to all nationalities as part of a broader push to attract investment into Sharjah’s tourism and real estate sectors.
Sharjah’s Ruler also laid the foundation stone for the Abu Kizan Marine Village project in Khorfakkan on Thursday, signaling continued expansion of tourism and leisure infrastructure along the emirate’s east coast. In February, Sheikh Sultan had outlined plans to transform Khorfakkan into a city surrounded by forests, with ongoing work to green the area’s mountainous terrain.
Sharjah’s AED780 Million Tourism Economy
According to the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, the emirate welcomed more than two million guests across 102 hotels in 2025, generating revenue of AED780 million. Russian visitors were the largest group at 347,000, followed by 231,000 visitors from India.
The Khorfakkan Resort is expected to build on that momentum. According to state news agency WAM, the project is designed to provide “an integrated destination that combines luxury accommodation and recreational services,” supporting Sharjah’s sustainable development plans and economic activity in Khorfakkan.
