Emirates Launches Electric Premium Economy Seat With Full-Height Privacy

Emirates has unveiled a new electrically powered Premium Economy seat featuring a full-height adjustable privacy screen, describing it as the world’s first Premium Economy seat of its kind. The new seat will debut on newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft as the airline continues to expand and upgrade its Premium Economy offering.

The new seat is designed to give passengers greater control over their personal space during a flight. A full-height privacy divider is positioned between every seat and can be raised or lowered using the seat controls. Passengers can lock the divider into their preferred position while working, dining or relaxing.

The seat itself is fully electrically powered, allowing passengers to adjust their seating position at the touch of a button through an integrated Passenger Control Unit. Dedicated settings include lounge mode and meal mode. The seat can also recline into a cradle position without intruding into the space of the passenger seated behind it.

The new Premium Economy cabin is being introduced on Emirates’ Airbus A350 aircraft in a 2-3-2 configuration. The cabin contains 28 Premium Economy seats on the long-haul version of the aircraft. Emirates states that the seats are up to 20 inches wide and provide up to 39 inches of seat pitch.

Comfort features have also been upgraded. The seats include the U-Dream headrest from Safran Seats, which has adjustable wings designed to provide support for the passenger’s head and neck. A leather footrest provides additional support, while the seat’s deeper recline is intended to make resting more comfortable during longer flights.

The new seats also introduce wireless charging to Emirates Premium Economy for the first time. Each seat includes USB-C charging as well as a tray table with an integrated phone holder. The phone holder allows passengers to position their personal device as a second screen while eating or watching entertainment.

For entertainment, passengers will have access to Emirates’ ice inflight entertainment system through a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen. The newly delivered A350 aircraft also feature enhanced exterior camera views, adding left- and right-facing perspectives to the existing forward and downward views.

The new seat builds on Emirates’ existing Premium Economy service, which was introduced in 2022. The airline’s Premium Economy offering includes wider leather seats, adjustable headrests, leg and footrests, premium dining and upgraded inflight entertainment. Emirates has progressively expanded the cabin to more aircraft and destinations.

Premium Economy passengers receive meals served on Royal Doulton tableware, with stainless-steel Robert Welch cutlery and linen napkins. Emirates also offers a selection of premium beverages in the cabin, including Chandon Vintage Brut on its Premium Economy service.

The introduction of the electric seat comes as Emirates continues to expand its Airbus A350 operations. The airline has been introducing the aircraft on routes across its global network, with Premium Economy available on its A350 aircraft. In August 2026, Emirates announced that its A350 would begin daily services between Dubai and Kuala Lumpur from September 1, increasing Premium Economy capacity on the route.

Emirates’ new electric Premium Economy seat represents another development in the airline’s investment in its cabin products. With electrically adjustable seating, a full-height privacy screen, wireless charging and a 4K entertainment display, the new design adds several technology-focused features to the Premium Economy cabin while retaining the wider seating and dining features associated with Emirates’ existing product.
