With less than two months to go, Marvel Studios has shared a new image of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor alongside a simple message for fans, “Stand together.”
Marvel Studios has released a new look at Chris Hemsworth as Thor ahead of the release of Avengers: Doomsday, which opens in theaters on December 18. The image was shared on October 25 with a two-word message, “Stand together,” along with a reminder that tickets are now on sale.
The same line runs through the latest wave of promotional material. A short teaser released the same day shows lightning over a darkened battlefield and a cloaked figure in the foreground, while a 30-second television spot that arrived a day earlier features Thor, Steve Rogers holding Thor’s hammer and Ant-Man, with brief glimpses of Professor X, Mystique, Yelena Belova and The Thing.
Avengers: Doomsday is the 39th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and part of Phase Six. It marks the return of directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who previously directed Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, two of the most successful films in the franchise.

Avengers Doomsday Cast and Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom
The most talked-about piece of casting is Robert Downey Jr., who returns to the franchise not as Tony Stark but as Victor von Doom, better known as Doctor Doom. His casting was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2024, and the Russo brothers have said he was the one person who could take on the role.
The film is set 14 months after the events of Thunderbolts* and follows heroes from three different universes as they unite against Doom while the multiverse begins to collapse. The Avengers, Wakandans and New Avengers are joined by the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, bringing together characters who have never before shared the screen in the MCU.
The cast includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards and Tom Hiddleston as Loki. Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart also return as Magneto and Professor X, the roles they first played in the X-Men films.
The screenplay was written by Michael Waldron, Stephen McFeely, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, with music by Alan Silvestri, who also scored Infinity War and Endgame. Filming took place between April and September 2025, mainly at Pinewood Studios in England, with location shoots in Windsor Great Park and in Bahrain.
Avengers Doomsday Release Date, Runtime and Ticket Sales
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in the United States on December 18, 2026, across more than 4,000 theaters, while audiences in the UK will see it two days earlier, on December 16. The film is also scheduled to open in the UAE on December 18. It runs for approximately 165 minutes, longer than Infinity War at 149 minutes but shorter than Endgame at 181 minutes.
Interest in the film has been strong since tickets first went on sale. Premium-format screenings opened for booking on July 20, and advance sales reached $16.5 million in the first 24 hours. By early September, about 100 days before release, pre-sales had climbed to $50 million, with some projections placing its opening weekend between $260 million and $300 million.
The release date has moved several times. Avengers: Doomsday was originally scheduled for May 2025 before being pushed back to its current December slot.
The story will continue in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is set for release on December 17, 2027, and will conclude both Phase Six and the Multiverse Saga.
