Sony’s latest Spider-Man film has become the highest-grossing entry in the franchise after six straight weekends on top.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed $2.4 billion at the global box office, cementing its place as the top-grossing Spider-Man movie ever released. The film, distributed by Sony Pictures, reached the milestone in early September after opening at the end of July.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and made on a reported budget of around $225 million, the film debuted in the United States on July 31, 2026. It opened to a record-setting domestic weekend and has stayed at the front of the North American chart ever since. Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker in the movie, which was produced by Columbia Pictures, Marvel Studios and Pascal Pictures.
The $2.4 billion running total places the film among the highest earners in recent box office history. According to trade reports from Deadline and Variety, the movie held the number one spot in North America for six consecutive weekends, a streak that few titles have matched in the current era.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Box Office Numbers and Records
The film crossed $2 billion worldwide within its first three weeks, making it the second-fastest release to reach that mark. It kept climbing from there, and by early September the worldwide figure stood at $2.4 billion. Industry projections cited in trade coverage suggest the total could push past $2.5 billion before the run ends.
Domestically, the film has been closing in on the all-time North American record. Variety reported that by its sixth weekend the movie was nearing the domestic total set by Avengers: Endgame, a benchmark that has stood for years. Its international haul has driven much of the overall gross, with strong turnout across major markets.
The film’s sixth weekend at number one came even as competition arrived in theaters. Deadline reported that the epic The Odyssey took the top weekend spot at that point, though Brand New Day continued adding to its cumulative total and remained one of the biggest draws of the year.
Tom Holland Spider-Man Film Draws Strong Audience Response
Audience reaction has stayed positive throughout the run. Social media posts have praised Holland’s performance, the action sequences, the visual effects and the suit design, with some viewers returning for repeat screenings. The word-of-mouth response has been credited as a factor in the film’s long hold at the top of the chart.
The movie’s success has been read within the industry as a marker of a broader box office recovery. After a stretch of uneven results across the wider market, a release performing at this level over several weeks has offered studios a measure of reassurance heading into the fall season.
With the worldwide figure at $2.4 billion and climbing, Spider-Man: Brand New Day now stands as the strongest performer the franchise has produced, and its final total will settle once the theatrical run winds down.
