Saudi Arabia’s homegrown car brand Ceer has revealed its first two electric vehicles, a sedan and an SUV.
Saudi Arabia has taken a major step into the global auto industry with the unveiling of its first electric vehicles. Ceer, the kingdom’s first homegrown car brand, revealed the designs of its first two models on Monday, September 21, at its manufacturing facility in King Abdullah Economic City.
The two vehicles, an electric sedan and SUV, were revealed under the name Exobot. According to Arab News, they are the first products in a planned portfolio of seven models set to launch over the next five years, which will include midsize and compact vehicles with a range of options.
The unveiling was described as a national milestone. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman revealed the flagship vehicles, and the event was attended by industry representatives and senior officials, including the governor of the Public Investment Fund. The company said both vehicles were designed and engineered locally to high global standards.
Ceer Electric Vehicles Mark a Milestone for Saudi Vision 2030
The launch fits squarely within Saudi Arabia’s broader economic strategy. Ceer is positioned as part of the kingdom’s push to diversify its economy and build an advanced industrial sector, a central aim of its Vision 2030 program. The brand represents Saudi Arabia’s formal entry into the global electric vehicle market.
Ceer is a homegrown brand established by the Public Investment Fund, the kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund, in partnership with the Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn. The vehicles are being developed with component technology from BMW, giving the project the backing of established players in both electronics and automotive engineering.
The economic ambitions attached to the brand are significant. Ceer is projected to contribute more than $8 billion directly to Saudi Arabia’s economy by 2034 and to help attract foreign investment while creating thousands of jobs. The name Ceer, drawn from Arabic, translates roughly as “drive forward,” reflecting the brand’s forward-looking positioning.
Ceer Manufacturing Complex Targets Regional and Global EV Market
Production will be based at the Ceer Manufacturing Complex in King Abdullah Economic City, located along the Red Sea coast. The facility is being developed to support annual production of up to 170,000 vehicles, with capacity expected to grow further as the operation scales.
The company has built an extensive network of local partnerships to support the venture. It has signed agreements worth billions of dollars with hundreds of companies across the kingdom, with a strong emphasis on involving Saudi businesses. A key part of the strategy is localization, with the company aiming to source a large share of its components domestically over time.
The vehicles are designed for the Saudi and wider regional markets, with ambitions to compete globally. That regional focus is likely to draw interest across the Gulf, including in the UAE, where demand for electric vehicles continues to grow as governments push toward cleaner transport.
The company has not yet announced pricing or a firm commercial launch date. Commercial production is scheduled to begin in the final quarter of 2026, with customer deliveries expected to follow. The unveiling marks the shift from design to production as Saudi Arabia prepares to put its first homegrown electric vehicles on the road.
