The test was witnessed by the Army Rocket Force Command and the team of scientists and engineers behind the system.
The Pakistan Army has carried out a successful test launch of the Fatah-2 Extended Range (ER) hypersonic ballistic missile, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said on Tuesday.
According to the ISPR statement, the weapon system is equipped with advanced navigation and state-of-the-art avionics. The military said the missile is capable of engaging targets with high precision and is designed to evade missile defense systems through its trajectory and maneuverability features.
ISPR said the extended range will “further enhance Army’s reach and capability of engaging deep targets.” The statement did not disclose the missile’s range.
Fatah-2 ER Test Witnessed by Army Rocket Force Command
The launch was witnessed by the Commander of the Army Rocket Force Command (ARFC), along with senior military officers, scientists and engineers.
The ARFC commander praised the scientists and engineers for their dedication, technical skill and contribution to the development of the system.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir congratulated the team on the successful test, along with the services chiefs.
Pakistan’s Fatah Missile Series and Recent Tests
The Fatah-2 ER is part of Pakistan’s indigenously developed Fatah series. Earlier versions of the Fatah-2 system were tested in December 2023 and May 2024, and the Army Rocket Force Command conducted a training launch of the system in April this year.
Tuesday’s test came a week after the military test-fired an extended-range version of the Fatah-4 cruise missile on October 6. The military said that test validated the missile’s improved accuracy, Arab News reported.
The Army Rocket Force Command was announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in August 2025. It oversees the army’s conventional rocket and missile systems.
