The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Iranian Ambassador to deliver a formal protest note condemning attacks on civilian infrastructure as a violation of sovereignty and international law.
Mar 2, 2026

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has officially summoned the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Arab Emirates, Reza Ameri. During the meeting, the Ministry delivered a strongly worded note of protest regarding recent Iranian terrorist attacks and assaults targeting UAE territory. The UAE has condemned these actions in the strongest terms, labeling them a blatant violation of national sovereignty and a threat to national security.
The Ministry emphasized that these hostile acts constitute a clear breach of all international conventions, resolutions, and established norms. This diplomatic move follows the UAE's decision on March 1, 2026, to close its embassy in Tehran and withdraw its ambassador and diplomatic mission from Iran.
Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, expressed the UAE’s categorical rejection of any justifications or excuses issued by the Iranian Government regarding the escalation. The attacks targeted various civilian sites, including residential areas, airports, ports, and service facilities. These actions placed innocent civilians at risk and resulted in the loss of life of a Pakistani national.
Minister Al Marar underscored that this serious and irresponsible escalation disregards the UAE's clear position that it would not permit its territory to be used in any military action against Iran. The Ministry stated that these assaults contravene the principles of good neighborliness and the Charter of the United Nations. Furthermore, such actions undermine the path of de-escalation and peaceful solutions that the UAE has consistently pursued with Iran.
Repercussions on Bilateral Relations and Legal Rights
The UAE has warned of serious repercussions on bilateral relations, noting that these attacks will have a direct impact across political, economic, and commercial levels. The government has demanded that its sovereignty be respected and that all such attacks cease immediately and unconditionally.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the UAE reserves its full and legitimate right to respond to these attacks in a manner that safeguards its territorial integrity and the safety of its citizens and residents. This right to response is maintained in full accordance with international law. The UAE remains in close communication with brotherly nations and international partners to discuss these regional developments and ensure collective security.
The UAE government urges all residents to follow official updates from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for accurate information.
