UAE and Bahrain Send 100 Tonnes of Gaza Aid During Ramadan

The UAE and Bahrain have jointly dispatched 100 tonnes of emergency relief to the Gaza Strip, with the shipment timed to coincide with the start of Ramadan 2026 as Palestinians continue to face a severe humanitarian crisis after more than two years of conflict.

The aid was flown via Al Arish Airport in Egypt on February 20, 2026, in preparation for its entry into Gaza through the Rafah Border Crossing. The operation was coordinated between Bahrain's Royal Humanitarian Foundation, the Emirates Red Crescent, and the UAE's Operation Chivalrous Knight 3.

Gaza Ramadan Relief Includes Food, Medicine and Hygiene Supplies

The 100-tonne relief shipment includes basic food commodities, hygiene kits for children and women, and a selection of medicines and critical medical supplies. The aid was dispatched under the directives of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, who serves as Honorary President of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation. It was carried out under the guidance of Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Trustees.

Eng. Ibrahim Dalhan Al Doseri, Acting Secretary-General of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, said the initiative reflects Bahrain's humanitarian vision and its commitment to supporting the Palestinian people. He added that the timing of the shipment during Ramadan carries particular significance, reinforcing values of solidarity and compassion during the holy month.

Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 Continues UAE Gaza Aid Mission

The joint shipment with Bahrain is part of the UAE's broader, ongoing Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, a large-scale humanitarian mission launched under the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The operation runs a dedicated sea and air bridge into Gaza and has, to date, dispatched over 301 convoys carrying more than 122,000 tonnes of diverse relief assistance via more than 10,000 trucks.

Recent convoys have delivered food parcels, winter clothing, heating supplies, and medical aid. A medical convoy carrying over 30 tonnes of medicines and supplies has also been dispatched to support the UAE field hospital in Rafah and the Emirates Medical Centre in Khan Younis. The UAE's medical support team in Al Arish operates around the clock to oversee the preparation and dispatch of shipments.

Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 has also included the Birds of Goodness initiative, which focuses on airdropping aid to areas in northern Gaza that are difficult to access by land. The operation has provided 33 ambulances, medical tents, 36 tankers, field bakeries, and equipment to support water and infrastructure projects across the Strip.

UAE Pledges $1.2 Billion for Gaza at Board of Peace Meeting

The aid delivery comes just days after the UAE announced a further $1.2 billion in support for Gaza at the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace in Washington on February 19, 2026. The announcement was made by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during the session chaired by US President Donald Trump.

Sheikh Abdullah noted that since the outbreak of the conflict, the UAE had provided close to $3 billion in assistance to the Palestinian people in Gaza. The new $1.2 billion pledge brings the UAE's total financial commitment to approximately $4.2 billion. At the same meeting, countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Kazakhstan collectively pledged around $7 billion, with the United States committing an additional $10 billion.

Bahrain also announced at the Board of Peace meeting that it would provide infrastructure and skills to help establish a government digital services platform for Gaza as part of the reconstruction effort.

Gaza Humanitarian Crisis Continues After Two Years of Conflict

Palestinians in Gaza continue to face food shortages and severely limited access to healthcare as a result of the two-year conflict with Israel. A fragile ceasefire has been in place since October 2025, and international efforts to stabilize the territory and begin reconstruction are ongoing. The UAE has joined the wider international community in calling for a sustained flow of aid into the Strip to alleviate civilian suffering while rebuilding plans take shape.

The joint UAE-Bahrain shipment is the latest in a sustained pattern of Gulf cooperation on Gaza relief, with both countries using Ramadan as a moment to intensify humanitarian efforts on the ground.
