Government teams and volunteers in Dubai have distributed 135,000 iftar meals to construction workers this Ramadan under the Bus of Goodness campaign, run by the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai.
The campaign is being held in partnership with the Beit Al Khair Society and the Dubai Charity Association, targeting worker communities across Jebel Ali, Al Quoz, Dubai Investment Park, and Muhaisnah.
Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of the GDRFA and chairman of the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs, said the initiative aims to reach as many members of the workforce as possible, spreading happiness and reinforcing solidarity and community cohesion.
Bus of Goodness Iftar Campaign Reaches Dubai Construction Workers
Abideen Taher Al Awadhi, Director General of the Beit Al Khair Society, confirmed the 135,000-meal milestone and said the campaign is bringing support to workers who are most in need during the holy month.
Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Chief Executive of the Dubai Charity Association, described the initiative as a bridge of hope, reflecting collaboration between the government and charitable sectors to create a positive impact in workers' lives.
The campaign runs throughout the holy month of Ramadan, with Eid Al Fitr predicted to begin on March 20, according to an astronomy centre forecast.
Ramadan Worker Welfare Initiatives Reflect UAE's Commitment to Labor Communities
The Bus of Goodness is one of several active worker welfare campaigns in Dubai this Ramadan. The UAE has a long track record of community-driven efforts during the holy month, particularly aimed at the large blue-collar expat workforce that makes up a significant share of the country's labor force.
Construction workers and laborers in communities like Al Quoz and Jebel Ali often spend Ramadan away from their families. Campaigns like Bus of Goodness aim to fill that gap, delivering a moment of care during iftar, the daily fast-breaking meal.
The initiative reflects the UAE's stated values of generosity, hospitality, and social responsibility toward the workers who contribute to the nation's development.
