When most people think of corporate Ramadan giving, they picture donation cheques and press statements. This year, DAMAC Properties sent its employees to construction sites and mosque courtyards across Dubai to feed thousands of workers and families throughout the Holy Month.
The Hussain Sajwani-DAMAC Foundation announced an AED 100 million donation to the 11.5: Edge of Life campaign, a humanitarian initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The campaign targets the rescue of five million children from hunger worldwide.

DAMAC Volunteers Hit Dubai Construction Sites
On the ground, DAMAC partnered with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority to bring iftar directly to laborers working on major project sites across the city. Many of these workers are spending Ramadan away from their families. Volunteers packed and distributed meal boxes, showing up in person rather than just cutting a cheque.
At Al Salam Mosque in Al Barsha, DAMAC teamed up with Dubai Charity Association to run a daily iftar program throughout Ramadan. More than 2,000 meal boxes were distributed each day, with DAMAC staff helping with packing and sitting down to share the meal alongside the people they came to feed.
Hussain Sajwani, Founder and Chairman of DAMAC Group, said the effort was about recognizing the people behind Dubai's growth.
"Across our construction sites and communities are thousands of people whose hard work helps shape Dubai every day," he said. "It reflects the respect we have for their dignity and for the role they play in Dubai's continued progress."
People of Determination and the Year of the Family
DAMAC also expanded its work with organizations supporting People of Determination during Ramadan, including the Dubai Club for People of Determination, Al Noor, Omniyat, Awladuna, and Rashid Centres. The support included student sponsorships, rehabilitation assistance, and community programs, in line with the UAE's Year of the Family.
The Hussain Sajwani-DAMAC Foundation, DAMAC's philanthropic arm, has previously funded coding programs, schooling initiatives, and food relief efforts across the region.
For the workers spending Ramadan far from home and the families relying on community iftars, the difference between a press release and someone actually showing up with a meal box is everything. This Ramadan, DAMAC chose the latter.
