Jordan’s bus network took the top prize at the 14th edition of the RTA’s sustainable transport awards.
The 14th Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport has named its winners, after a year in which entries jumped more than fourfold.
Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Olympic Committee, honored the winners at a ceremony at Dubai World Trade Centre on Thursday, October 15. The event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and organized by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The award received more than 750 applications this year, a 400 percent increase on the previous edition, the Dubai Media Office said. Of these, 158 made it to the final evaluation. Entries came from 45 entities in nine countries, along with 460 individual entries from 22 countries.
“The significant growth in participation in the 14th edition reflects the award’s growing profile,” said Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at the RTA.
