Andrea Marazzi Sets Guinness World Record With World’s Narrowest Car

Italian mechanic and fabricator Andrea Marazzi has built a car so narrow that it measures just 50.20 centimetres (19.76 inches) across. The unusual vehicle has now been officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s narrowest drivable car. The record was achieved in Bagnolo Cremasco, Italy, on June 21, 2025.

The vehicle began life as a 1993 Fiat Panda that was destined for demolition. Marazzi works at his family’s car dismantling business, where he found the old Panda and decided to give it a new purpose. Rather than allowing the vehicle to be scrapped, he used it as the basis for an unusual engineering project. Guinness World Records says the aim was to give the old car “a second life.”

Marazzi spent approximately 12 months working on the vehicle. The result retains the appearance and many components associated with the original Fiat Panda, but its proportions have been dramatically changed. Reports say that approximately 99% of its parts were retained from the original vehicle, including components such as its wheels.

The finished car is approximately 3.4 metres long and 1.45 metres high, while its width is only 50.20 centimetres. For comparison, the original Fiat Panda was approximately 1.46 metres wide, meaning Marazzi reduced the vehicle’s width to roughly one-third of the original.

The extreme reduction in width also resulted in a very different interior. The vehicle is designed around a single occupant, with the driver sitting inside an exceptionally narrow cabin. Local reporting from Italy has described the interior width as approximately 30 centimetres.

The car is not simply a static display model. Guinness World Records specifically recognises it as a drivable car, meaning it can be operated as a functioning vehicle. Its unusual dimensions were achieved while retaining the basic characteristics required for it to move and be controlled.

The vehicle uses electric propulsion, although reports about its exact mechanical configuration have differed. Italian local reporting describes a rear-wheel-drive arrangement involving a single driven wheel, while other reports have described its electric motor and batteries.

The project first attracted significant public attention in 2025, when Marazzi presented the unusual Panda at the Panda a Pandino gathering in Italy. The event brought together Fiat Panda enthusiasts, and the extremely narrow vehicle became one of the event’s standout attractions.

The Guinness recognition followed the vehicle’s public debut. According to the Guinness World Records entry, the official measurement of 50.20 centimetres established Marazzi’s creation as the narrowest drivable car. Guinness subsequently highlighted the achievement as part of its 2027 record collection.

Marazzi’s creation demonstrates how an ordinary vehicle can be radically transformed through mechanical fabrication and the reuse of existing components. Starting with an old Fiat Panda that was headed for demolition, he produced a functioning single-seat vehicle measuring just over half a metre in width.

The result is not a conventional production car and was never presented as one. Instead, it is an individually built automotive project that combines a salvaged vehicle, extensive modification and creative engineering. Its official Guinness World Records recognition has established the 50.20-centimetre-wide Fiat Panda as the world’s narrowest drivable car.
