Rain is heading back to the UAE. Forecasters expect cloud build-up and scattered showers across parts of the country from Tuesday through Friday as the seasonal period known locally as the Rawayeh begins. The National Centre of Meteorology said the unstable weather will bring convective cloud formation, occasional rain, and a slight dip in temperatures later in the week.
The first rain chances arrive Tuesday afternoon. Convective clouds may develop over some western coastal areas and parts of the eastern region, possibly triggering scattered rainfall. The pattern then settles in for several days.
The unsettled weather conditions are set to continue through Wednesday and Thursday. The highest chance of afternoon cloud build-up and rain stays focused on eastern areas, including mountainous and adjacent regions. Similar conditions may stretch into Friday, extending the period of instability to four straight days.
Eastern and mountainous parts of the country face the best odds of rain this week. That includes Fujairah, Khor Fakkan, Kalba, and Masafi. On the other side of the country, parts of the western coast in Al Dhafra could see showers from Tuesday afternoon. Widespread rain is not expected, but intensity could vary from one spot to another depending on how the clouds develop.
The National Centre of Meteorology said the pattern lines up with the start of the Rawayeh season. During this time, rising heat and moisture help generate towering convective clouds. Those clouds can produce localized showers and thunderstorms over short distances.
UAE Weather Forecast Warns of Fog, Wind, and Cooler Temperatures
Humidity is expected to climb during the night and early morning hours, especially over western coastal and inland areas. That could form fog or mist in some spots between Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Drivers in those areas will need to take extra care during the morning commute.
Winds should stay light to moderate for most of the period. They may pick up at times, reaching speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour on Wednesday and Thursday. On Thursday, northwesterly winds are forecast to turn active over the western parts of the country. Those winds could raise dust and cut visibility in exposed areas.
Temperatures are expected to ease slightly toward the end of the week, particularly across western regions. The drop follows several days of intense summer heat, with forecasters pointing to a cooldown on Thursday and Friday.
The shift fits the wider season. The Emirates Astronomy Society recently noted that the country has entered astronomical summer, with hot conditions likely to hold through early August. During this stretch, seasonal Barah winds can stir dust and sand, while the second half of summer typically brings higher humidity and more thunderstorm activity over the Hajar Mountains.
For residents, the week ahead means a mix of muggy mornings, possible afternoon showers in the east, and cooler conditions by the weekend.
