Top Erling Haaland Moments That Won Fans’ Hearts

As Erling Haaland turns 25, here are the moments that turned the Norwegian striker into the internet’s favorite footballer.

Erling Haaland turns 25 today, and the timing could hardly be better. The Norwegian striker spent the 2026 World Cup terrifying defenders and chasing goals, exactly what fans expect from one of the most feared players in the world. But somewhere along the way, he picked up a second reputation that had nothing to do with his finishing, one that turned football novices into diehard supporters.

Off the pitch, Haaland became a social media phenomenon. In an era when most world-class athletes run tightly managed accounts, every post polished by a PR team, his online personality feels refreshingly authentic and more than a little chaotic. Fans who had never watched a full match found themselves following him anyway, pulled in by a feed that feels less like a celebrity brand and more like a group chat with a very tall, very funny friend.

Part of what turned Haaland into an internet favorite is how he actually shows up in the comments. Rather than staying behind a wall of PR, he replies to fans and meme accounts directly, often with a one-word quip or a joke that lands harder than anything a marketing team could script. Fans caught on fast, and now creating a Haaland meme has become a kind of sport in itself, a way to bait the striker into responding. The more absurd the post, the better the odds he shows up in the replies, and every time he does, that interaction becomes its own viral moment. It has created a feedback loop where fans make memes hoping he’ll notice, he notices and fires back, and the exchange spreads further than the original post ever would have on its own.

To mark the striker’s birthday, here are the moments and quirks that won hearts and made him the most entertaining figure of the tournament. Together they explain why the internet fell for an athlete who simply refuses to take himself seriously.

When a young fan asked Haaland to comment on his post, the adorable Viking didn’t disappoint!

The resemblance is uncanny! Haaland loved it!!

Fan service? Or service to the fans!

And it can’t get more adorable than this!!

BOSNIA X HAALAND — THE CROSSOVER WE DIDN’T KNOW WE NEEDED

Long before he became a footballer, Haaland took a shot at a rap career. Back in 2016, a teenage Haaland teamed up with two Norway youth teammates to form a trio called Flow Kingz, and their homemade song “Kygo Jo” has gone viral ever since the star won everyone’s heart at the World Cup. The track even shot to No. 1 in Norway after DJ Kygo remixed it mid-tournament. Some fans are now half-jokingly suspecting that Erling became a footballer just to promote his song, and given how unhinged he can be, we don’t have nearly enough evidence to rule it out.

The “Nice” comments are simply not getting old!

THIS ONE IS SIMPLY HILARIOUS!

Who can say no to Tiramisu?

NOT NICE!

Haaland even managed to ghost Spider-Man. Actor Tom Holland revealed on The Tonight Show that he’d spotted Haaland at the Monaco Grand Prix, slid into his DMs, and invited him to dinner, only to be left on read. Haaland later explained on a Norwegian talk show that he doesn’t watch movies, had no idea who Holland was, and didn’t want to reply to a stranger. Slightly embarrassed once he realized who he’d ignored, the striker promised he’d finally message him back.

The Snapchat Posts That Made Haaland Feel Real

The heart of the appeal is what Haaland doesn’t do. He isn’t posting inspirational quotes, sponsored gear, or carefully lit workout montages. Instead, his followers get a steady stream of pure randomness that makes his presence impossible to predict and impossible to ignore.

On his Snapchat account, which has millions of followers, fans are treated to some of the most random photos and videos on the platform. Low-angle selfies, shots of him lounging in flamboyant silk pajamas, and glimpses of enormous Viking-style meals that look more like a medieval feast all make regular appearances. One follower described a favorite story that was simply a picture of Haaland in an infrared sauna, captioned “infrared sauna,” posted before and after the session.

The randomness extends to unexpected hobbies. Among the many Haaland facts that fans have gleefully worked their way through is that he is an avid collector of Hermès Birkin bags. Every new detail seems to widen the gap between his intimidating on-field image and his offbeat online one, and that contrast is exactly what keeps people scrolling.

Haaland’s viral moment reflects something larger about how footballers are becoming pop culture figures. His appeal rests on two pillars. The first is obvious talent, the kind that makes fellow professionals look small. The second is personality, and at 25 he has been described as perhaps the most Gen Z athlete at the tournament, comfortable with Snapchat filters, goofy selfies, and self-deprecating humor.

There was a touching side to his tournament too. At the 2026 World Cup, he wore “Braut Haaland” on the back of his Norway jersey to honor his mother, Gry Marita Braut, a former national heptathlon champion, a nod to the athletic inheritance that runs on both sides of his family.

For fans, the takeaway on his birthday is simple. Haaland proved you can be one of the deadliest strikers on earth and still be a total meme, and in a world of carefully curated celebrity, that honesty is exactly what made him a star off the pitch as much as on it.

Happy 25th to football’s most entertaining Viking with his viral song!
