Dubai’s coastal infrastructure has expanded with the official opening of Khor Al Mamzar Beach to the public. The development has been carried out by Dubai Municipality as part of a broader plan to enhance public beaches and recreational spaces across Dubai.
The newly opened beach forms part of the first phase of the Al Mamzar Beach development project, which is included in a larger coastal development initiative valued at approximately AED 3 billion. The project aims to expand beachfront accessibility and upgrade existing facilities along Dubai’s coastline. The opening marks a significant addition to the city’s portfolio of public leisure destinations.
Khor Al Mamzar Beach spans an area of approximately 2.75 million square feet. Within this space, authorities have developed a 3.6-kilometre-long swimming beach designed to accommodate a large number of visitors. The beachfront has been structured to support both daytime and nighttime use, with designated areas operating as night beaches. These areas are equipped with lighting and safety systems to allow swimming beyond daylight hours.
One of the notable features of the development is the inclusion of a floating pedestrian walkway. This structure has been designed to provide visitors with direct access across sections of the waterfront, while also supporting pedestrian movement along the coastline. The walkway is part of a broader network of pathways constructed within the project.

In addition to the swimming areas, the beach includes approximately 5.5 kilometres of tracks designated for walking, running, and cycling. These tracks are integrated into the layout of the site to support recreational and fitness activities. The pathways are connected to different sections of the beach, allowing access to sports zones, rest areas, and food outlets.
Sports and fitness infrastructure has been incorporated into the beach’s design. Facilities include courts for beach volleyball and padel, as well as outdoor gym equipment installed in designated areas. These features are intended to support physical activity and organized sports along the beachfront.
The development also includes designated zones for water-based activities. Kayaking is among the activities supported at the site, with areas allocated for safe access to the water. Safety measures, including lifeguard services and monitored swimming zones, have been implemented to regulate use and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Food and beverage services have been expanded significantly as part of the project. Multiple outlets have been established within the beach area to cater to visitors. These outlets are distributed across the site to provide access from various sections of the beach. Supporting infrastructure such as seating areas, shaded spaces, and service points has also been included.
Public amenities form a central component of the development. Facilities such as restrooms, changing rooms, and shower areas have been installed to accommodate visitors. Parking areas and access points have been developed to manage traffic flow and improve accessibility to the beach. The site has also been designed to be accessible for people with disabilities, with dedicated pathways and facilities included.
The opening of Khor Al Mamzar Beach aligns with Dubai’s long-term urban development strategies, including efforts to increase public access to coastal areas. The broader Al Mamzar development project is expected to include additional phases, which will further expand beachfront infrastructure and introduce new features over time.
Dubai Municipality has previously implemented similar upgrades across other public beaches in the city, focusing on infrastructure, safety, and accessibility. The Khor Al Mamzar Beach project continues this approach by combining recreational facilities with environmental and urban planning considerations.
The site is located in the Al Mamzar area, near the border between Dubai and Sharjah. Its location provides access for residents and visitors from multiple parts of the emirate, as well as neighbouring regions. The beach is connected to surrounding road networks, facilitating entry through designated access points.
The development reflects ongoing efforts to enhance Dubai’s coastal areas through structured planning and investment in public infrastructure. With its range of facilities, extended shoreline, and integrated recreational features, Khor Al Mamzar Beach represents a significant addition to the city’s public beach network.
Further phases of the Al Mamzar Beach development are expected to continue under the supervision of Dubai Municipality, with additional features and expansions planned as part of the overall project timeline.
