When India plays Pakistan, the scoreboard tells half the story. Social media writes the rest in memes, jokes, and perfectly timed reactions that outlast any match highlight.

Pakistani fans are disappointed right now, but their love for cricket means they’ll be back, ready for the next match. That’s just how it goes with India-Pakistan cricket. The passion for the game is bigger than any scoreline.

Yesterday’s T20 World Cup clash in Colombo had everything. Ishan Kishan smashing boundaries, Pakistan collapsing under pressure, and social media absolutely losing it with memes. Millions watched across the globe, from living rooms in Lahore to sports bars in London.

Let’s be real: when these two teams play, the world stops.

India qualifies for the Super 8 stage

India beat Pakistan by 61 runs at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium on February 15. Ishan Kishan’s 77 off 40 balls led India to 175/7. Pakistan managed just 114 in response. According to ESPN Cricinfo, India now leads Pakistan 8-1 in T20 World Cup encounters.

The numbers tell one story. Social media told another.

The Memes Start Rolling

While Indian cricket fans were having the time of their life, Pakistani fans mastered the art of self-deprecating humor and showed they know how to keep the fun alive while keeping it cool.

This time, it was Google India that went straight for the kill: “This match could’ve been an email.” Everyone got it instantly.

One tweet summed up Pakistan’s recent record: “4 Sunday mein 4 baar hara diya” (Lost 4 times on 4 Sundays).

Urdu shayari peaked yesterday, perfectly describing the match in verses that hit harder than any commentary.

Bollywood references flooded timelines. “Kabhi Khushi, Mostly Gham” perfectly described the Pakistani fan experience.

The 8-1 stat got turned into every format imaginable. Graphics, videos, jokes. India’s dominance became meme gold.

Ishan Kishan’s strike rate next to Pakistan’s run rate made for brutal comparisons. His aggressive 192.50 strike rate against Pakistan’s sluggish chase created perfect meme material.

Pakistan lost three wickets in the first two overs. Social media compared it to failed exams, bad first dates, disastrous job interviews. You name it. The powerplay collapse became a metaphor for every disappointing moment imaginable.

Even the captains not shaking hands became content. People made up entire conversations about the awkwardness. The no-handshake policy at the toss sparked its own category of memes.

Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar commented on the no-handshake policy and we kind of agree.

This ‘no shaking hands’ is such a silly thing that India has started. It’s unbecoming of a nation like ours. Either play properly within the spirit of the game or don’t play at all.

— Sanjay Manjrekar (@sanjaymanjrekar) February 15, 2026

Even in victory, tensions ran high when Hardik Pandya and captain Suryakumar Yadav were spotted in a heated discussion with Kuldeep Yadav after a dropped catch, though teammates quickly stepped in to cool things down.

Kuldeep yadav

Pakistani fans also recalled the good old days.

Pakistani fans found a silver lining: at least they didn’t get all out before 100 runs.

100 se pehle all out nahi hue.pic.twitter.com/pcDuOw1Hsl

— Abdullah (@michaelscottfc) February 15, 2026

What Actually Happened On Field

Beyond the jokes, India’s performance was clinical. Hardik Pandya opened the bowling and delivered a wicket maiden in the first over. Sahibzada Farhan departed for a four-ball duck, setting the tone immediately.

Jasprit Bumrah followed up with two wickets in the second over. According to ESPN Cricinfo, Pakistan was reduced to 13/3 inside two overs. Saim Ayub and captain Salman Ali Agha both fell cheaply.

Babar Azam, Pakistan’s most experienced batsman, managed just 5 runs before Axar Patel clean bowled him. The chase was effectively over before it began.

An all-round performance from India clinches a 61-run win over Pakistan 💪

Usman Khan provided brief resistance with 44 runs off 34 balls. But Varun Chakravarthy ripped through the lower order with two wickets in two balls. Kuldeep Yadav and Tilak Varma chipped in as well.

India’s bowling unit shared the wickets perfectly. Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakravarthy all picked up two wickets each.

Earlier, Ishan Kishan’s innings set up the win. He came in after Abhishek Sharma’s first-ball duck and completely changed the game. His 77 included 10 fours and 3 sixes. Captain Suryakumar Yadav contributed 32, while Shivam Dube added a quick 27 at the end.

Saim Ayub was Pakistan’s best bowler with 3 wickets for 25 runs. But on a slow Colombo pitch, 175 proved well beyond Pakistan’s reach.

Why This Matters

India qualified for the Super 8 stage with this win. Pakistan now faces a must-win situation against Namibia in their final group match. Their net run rate took a serious hit with this 61-run loss.

But India-Pakistan matches are never just about cricket. They’re about the build-up, the tension, the social media wars, and yes, the memes. Win or lose, fans from both countries create moments that outlast the match itself.

Pakistani supporters have seen this story before. The 8-1 record in T20 World Cups speaks for itself. Yet they show up every single time. That’s real fandom. When the match ends and the memes start flying, they’re right there in the comments, laughing along, already talking about next time.

Cricket continues. The rivalry lives on. And somewhere, someone is already working on the next viral meme.
