Meghan Markle has reportedly been offered a role in an upcoming UK-based project as she and Prince Harry prepare to move back to Britain.
Meghan Markle could return to acting after she and Prince Harry move back to the United Kingdom, according to reports. The Duchess of Sussex is said to have been offered a role in an upcoming project based in Britain, though no details about the part or the production have been confirmed.
The reports followed the announcement earlier in the week that the Sussexes plan to return to the UK after six years living in California. The couple’s children have been enrolled in British schools and are set to begin classes in September, and the family is expected to settle in a privately owned home outside London rather than a royal residence. Sources close to the couple have not denied the acting report, but they have kept any specifics private.
The story was first reported by the Australian outlet News.com.au, whose reporter said the possibility of a role in a UK production may have been a significant factor in the family’s decision to return. The claim drew wide attention, in part because Meghan had previously said she was finished with acting.

Meghan Markle Acting Return and Suits Career
Meghan is best known for her role as paralegal Rachel Zane in the US legal drama Suits, which she played for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018. The show found a popular resurgence in 2023 when it began streaming to a new audience, reintroducing her earlier work to viewers who knew her mainly as a member of the royal family.
Before her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, she was a full-time actress in the United States and Canada, with credits that included Hallmark films and small roles in movies such as Horrible Bosses and Remember Me. She trained in theater before building her television career. When she married Harry, she stepped away from acting, describing the move at the time as the start of a new chapter.

In 2022, she was asked by Variety whether she would ever consider returning to acting. She said she was done, adding that while she would never say never, her intention was firmly not to go back. That earlier statement is part of what makes the latest reports notable, since they suggest a shift from the position she held only a few years ago.
She has not been entirely absent from the screen. Late last year, she took a small cameo role as herself in the Amazon MGM Studios comedy Close Personal Friends, which stars Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding. That appearance marked her first return to acting in nearly a decade.
Sussexes UK Return and Career Plans
The reported offer comes alongside a broader set of plans tied to the couple’s return. Since stepping away from their senior royal roles in 2020, Harry and Meghan have lived in Montecito, California, and focused on media projects. They struck a production deal with Netflix that led to the docuseries Harry & Meghan in 2022 and two seasons of the lifestyle show With Love, Meghan.

Alongside a possible return to acting, the BBC reported that Meghan hopes to expand the global reach of her US-based lifestyle and cooking brand, As Ever, after returning to the UK. The brand launched with support from a Netflix partnership, and the streaming service stepped back as a backer earlier in the year, with the plan being for Meghan to grow it independently.
The couple are expected to remain private individuals and non-working members of the royal family rather than resuming official duties. A source familiar with the matter indicated there are no plans to change their status as non-working royals, in keeping with the arrangement in place since they moved to the United States. The Sussexes are also reported to be keeping their Montecito home along with a property in Portugal, suggesting the move is intended as an extended stay rather than a full relocation.
The details of any acting role remain unconfirmed, and the couple have not commented publicly on either the move or the reported offer.
