Top destinations Pakistani passport holders can reach without an embassy visa, plus the full list of the rest.
Pakistan’s passport ranks 101st in the latest Henley Passport Index, with access to 29 destinations. That is an improvement from 103rd a year earlier. The index is compiled by Henley and Partners, evaluates 199 passports against 227 destinations, and draws on data from the International Air Transport Association.
The total is not a count of strictly visa-free countries. It combines three arrangements: visa-free entry, visa on arrival, and electronic travel authorisation. Eleven destinations require no visa at all, three use an online travel authorisation, and the rest issue a visa at the border.
Requirements differ by country and can change between the index’s monthly updates, so confirming with the relevant embassy or official portal before booking is essential.

Maldives
Visa on arrival. The island nation issues a 30-day tourist visa at the airport to all passport holders, including Pakistanis, with requirements typically covering a valid passport, confirmed accommodation, and onward travel. Direct flight connections from Karachi and other Pakistani cities make it one of the shortest long-weekend options on the list.
Sri Lanka
Electronic travel authorisation. Pakistani travellers apply online before departure rather than visiting an embassy, and approval is generally processed quickly. The country offers beaches, hill country tea estates, and ancient sites within a short flight of Pakistan.
Nepal
Visa on arrival. Available at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and at land borders, with tourist visas issued for 15, 30, or 90 days depending on the fee paid. Nepal remains one of the most straightforward Himalayan destinations for Pakistani passport holders.
Seychelles
Electronic travel authorisation. The Indian Ocean archipelago requires an online authorisation before travel, along with proof of accommodation, return tickets, and sufficient funds. It is one of the few high-end beach destinations open to Pakistani travellers without an embassy visa.
Kenya
Electronic travel authorisation. Kenya moved to a mandatory online travel authorisation system for all visitors, replacing its previous visa arrangement. The country is a primary safari destination, with Nairobi serving as a major East African aviation hub.
Rwanda
Visa-free. Rwanda grants entry with no visa required in advance, part of a broader open-borders policy the country has applied to all African and many non-African nationalities. Kigali has developed into a regional business and conference hub alongside its gorilla trekking tourism.
Qatar
Visa on arrival. Relevant for Gulf-based readers, Qatar offers visa on arrival to Pakistani passport holders subject to conditions including confirmed hotel booking, return ticket, and minimum passport validity. Doha functions as a major transit point for onward travel.

Visa-free entry: Barbados, Cook Islands, Dominica, Haiti, Micronesia, Montserrat, Rwanda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, The Gambia, Trinidad and Tobago, Vanuatu.
Electronic travel authorisation: Kenya, Seychelles, Sri Lanka.
Visa on arrival: Burundi, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Comoros, Djibouti, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Maldives, Mozambique, Nepal, Niue, Palau, Qatar, Samoa, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Timor-Leste, Tuvalu. This category has fluctuated most, standing at 18 in February and 16 by mid-July, which accounts for much of the movement in Pakistan’s overall total this year.
Major destinations including the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Australia continue to require a visa arranged in advance. Separately, a number of countries offer eVisa facilities to Pakistani travellers, applied for online but counted outside Henley’s method and so absent from the score of 29.
Globally, Singapore holds the top position with access to 192 destinations, followed by Japan, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates tied at 188. Within the region, China ranks 60th, India 81st, Iran 96th, Bangladesh 97th, and Nepal 98th. Pakistan’s two-place climb from 103rd to 101st reflects a modest shift, with 29 destinations reachable without arranging an embassy visa in advance.
